MY MOST MEMORABLE DAY

What is memorable Day ?
Memorable Day is the funniest and happiest Day of our life. However memories are not just the ones that make you feel like you are in heaven. Sometimes it is unforgettable because of the pain that has given to you. But either good or bad, it will still be the part of us,our life. It will remain in us forever , everywhere we walk.

When you think about this day 0r memory, you are very happy and you want to smile or you are sad and you want to cry. Lets talk about good thinks. In my opinion, every one has a memorable day like me. It can be birthday, party and other pleasant happenings.

I go through a lot of things And  I have many good memories. However, MY MOST MEMORABLE DAY connects with my classmates when I was studying in Class-10. It was…………it was Sunday. Early morning at around 5;30 am I,my classmates any 2 of our teachers met in school. Why is so much early? Because we decided to set off  and choose Unique and  immemorial village; MUALNUIAM. It was a school trip. I had never been abroad MUALNUAM VILLAGE , it was the first and unforgettable experience. It seemed a very special thing for me. It was fascinating because I was with my classmates. IT’S littered friendly and kind atmosphere.

We went to Mualnuam village  by JOSEPH TRAVEL BUS and  we can take photos and videos insi9de the Bus. I like to take videos very much, so we did it almost the whole day while we are travelling towards Mualnuam village through a miserable GUITE ROAD. We reach our destination at around 4;00 pm. It is amazing and beautiful to see the said village. I was very surprised at it….!!

The Village Mualnuam, situated at a distance of about 105 km. from Lamka Town and about 70 km. from Singngat, the sub-divisional headquarter. If you happen to travel along the Guite Road, after crossing Tuivai river near Maukot ,you find a mountain rang, protruding out from the southern bed of the river(Tuivai). The altitude of the range rises slowly to Suangdoh Village and beyond. After passing Pumlawng, Lungthul, Tuima and Thuangtam Village, we entered Mualnuam Village, Thanlon Sub-Division. Beyond Mualnuam Village, there is Songtal Village.

The Village was surrounded by mountains and hills. As you approach the Village from North, you will come across a Hill, Known as ‘’ MUALNUAM KAWLVUM’’ which runs slope towards the East.  South from this said ‘’Kawlvum’’ near the Road, there is a school known as “ GRACE ENGLISH JUN IOR HIGH SCHOOL’’,my teacher told me that it is a EBC Mission school.

Entry from the Southern side also no Less interesting. As we entered from the Southern side of the village, we reach ‘Hausa Veng” if we walk towards the North,we need to Cross Vengfnuam,Vengpi and Kotpi Veng. The old Name of Mualnuam is “ Ngawnbung” said by one of our teacher. To the West, which is More like above the Village, there is a site viewing place called by the Villagers as “ MUALMAI KAWL’’. To the East, down the Village we find a Cemetry, not only that we can find a Football Ground too. If we look straight towards the east,we find Thanlon Village above the mountain known as “ Singpuuk Vuum Kawl “.

The next Day,as soon as the morning sun rotates out of the high mountain(Mualmai), we saw some Villagers went to the field. Their occupation is mostly Cultivation in the form of shifting which is also known in North east as JHUMMING. As the ray of the morning sun  enters inside the house through holes in the bamboo wall,no matter the shape of the hole, the ray always has round shape appearance in the object it falls. Strains of household smoke and suspended dust particles were visible in the rays.

The morning household chores would begin for them with reviving the hearth for cooking the morning meal. By the time, the rice cooking pot was shifted to the foreside for slow heating. They sometimes rotate the rice pot and  steering the boiling vegetable pot on the fire.  Again, for the women, completion of rice pounding was followed by fetching of water from the community water point, the water point were connected with the Sialloh stream, the river runs between Mualnuam and Songtal, this stream is also used as the boundary line between the above said Villages.

The villagers fetch water in alluminium pot and also by using a smoothened and dried bamboo trunks and carried on the head for pot and back for the bam boo trunk using bamboo baskets. Once the water container at home was filled, the family was ready for the morning meal. But ofcourse not before the pigs, screaming and pushing about their empty wooden tray ,asking for food, were fed. Along with eating, the women would pack rice in banana leaf  and boiled vegetables in small bamboo trunk to be carried to the field for lunch.

By 8:00 am, all able-bodied men and women had left for working in their fields and infants were left with granies. School going childrens and teachers had also reached the school, which was at the North and south of the village(this means, there were 2 schools). The village wore a deserted look. The loudest sound within the village were from nesting hens leaving their nest for few pecks of grains. We can hear from the village, the voice of some group of school children wishing their teachers ‘’ goooood mollllning saaal’’ and ‘’ thaaannkheeeeeu saaal’’ and other groups reciting alphabets and multiplication table.

A teacher of mind told me that, each year during the month of October, the Village Authorities would decide which part of the village land should be cultivated during the forthcoming year. Once it is decided, the villagers would demarcate the area into cultivable sizes for each households. Which area of the land was cultivated in  which year, were very imp0rtant way of counting the years and remembering important events for illiterate people. If you asked some old mens, their age or date of birth, they may say,” I was born during Mangvom( after burning the field) or pawltaak( end of harvesting) in the year when, “ Mauleeng Taang area” was cultivated.

Coming back to the day in the village,at about 2;00 pm,the school got over and children came home for their lunch – left over of the morning meal. After taking lunch, the children were ready to go into the nearby forest and trapping small animals and birds. For the children, the period between dinner and dusk were play time in the front yards of their houses. Indoor family hearth was the place where family gathers and entertains visitors in the evening. Every nocturnal visitors was sent off with the wish for GOOD DREAMS, rejoined with the same wish by the visitor.

It was one of the funniest and the most amazing day of my life. Because in this days, my friends and my teachers were with me. My relationships with my classmates and teachers become better and more amicable. I got tired so much after this trip. However, I have something to remember. Nowadays when I meet my classmates, we remember this days with smile. Now I have a dream to go somewhere abroad with my whole family and I want to go through many things which i have never experienced.

1001-Thank you-2014
